What is ADHD?
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterised by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development.

Difficulty paying close attention to detail or making careless mistakes at work or during other activities.
Difficulties sustaining attention.
Appearing not to listen when spoken to directly.
Difficulty following instructions and completing tasks.

How do we assess ADHD?
At Redefini Therapies, each ADHD assessment is tailored to the client’s age, circumstances, and presenting concerns. The process generally includes a clinical interview, consideration of developmental and functional history, information from relevant people or settings where appropriate, and suitable psychometric measures. Following the assessment, we discuss the findings and recommended next steps with the client or family.

POSSIBLE NDIS FUNDING
NDIS funding may be available for eligible assessment or reporting services when the support is included in your plan and meets current NDIS funding requirements. Diagnostic assessments are not automatically covered. Please confirm eligibility with your plan manager, support coordinator, or the NDIA before booking.
Frequently asked questions about ADHD assessments
Do I need a referral for an ADHD assessment?
No. Children, adolescents and adults can generally contact Redefini Therapies directly to enquire about an ADHD assessment. However, a valid referral may be required if you wish to claim an eligible Medicare rebate. Please contact Redefini before booking so our team can explain which referral, rebate and attendance requirements may apply to your circumstances.
What is included in an ADHD assessment?
An ADHD assessment at Redefini Therapies is tailored to the client’s age, circumstances and presenting concerns. It may include a clinical and developmental interview, review of relevant previous reports, standardised questionnaires, information from parents, caregivers, teachers, partners or other relevant people, and appropriate psychometric measures. The fee also includes scoring, interpretation, report preparation and a feedback session.
How long does the assessment process take?
The timing varies according to the client’s needs, the assessments required and how quickly questionnaires and supporting information are returned. Redefini currently advises that the period from the initial interview to the completed report is approximately 6–12 weeks in many cases, but this is only a guide and cannot be guaranteed. Our team will keep you informed throughout the process.
Will I receive a written report?
Yes. Redefini’s ADHD diagnostic-assessment fee includes preparation of a written psychological assessment report. During the feedback session, your psychologist will explain the results, conclusions and recommendations and answer your questions. An electronic copy is provided after the feedback session once the assessment account has been paid in full.
Can children and adults be assessed?
Yes. Redefini Therapies provides ADHD assessments for children, adolescents and adults. The assessment process and sources of supporting information are adapted to the person’s age, circumstances and functional settings. For example, information may be sought from parents, caregivers, teachers, partners or workplaces when relevant and with appropriate consent.
What happens after the assessment?
After all assessment information has been collected and interpreted, Redefini arranges a feedback session to discuss the findings and recommendations. This session generally lasts approximately one to two hours. You can ask questions, discuss recommended next steps and receive your written report, which you may share with treating professionals, schools or other relevant services at your discretion.
